DELL CERTIFIED DDR5 ECC MEMORY

Dell PowerEdge Server Memory — DDR5 ECC RDIMMs

Genuine Dell-certified DDR5 ECC registered DIMMs for current PowerEdge servers at 4800, 5600 and 6400 MT/s from 16GB to 128GB, DDR4 RDIMMs for 14th/15th-generation systems, plus ECC UDIMMs for entry single-socket platforms — matched to Dell population rules.

Server memory must match your platform’s type, speed, rank and channel layout to run at full rated speed and reach maximum capacity. We supply genuine Dell DDR5 RDIMMs (and ECC UDIMMs for the entry tower/rack line), verify the exact configuration against your service tag, and can supply matched sets for a balanced upgrade.

Memory options we supply

DDR5 RDIMM 6400

Latest registered ECC DIMMs for current 16th/17th-generation platforms that support 6400 MT/s.

DDR5 RDIMM 5600/4800

Registered ECC DIMMs for systems rated at 5600 or 4800 MT/s; speeds cannot be freely mixed.

Capacity range

Common modules from 16GB and 32GB up to 64GB, 96GB and 128GB for high-density memory servers.

ECC UDIMM

ECC unbuffered DIMMs for entry single-socket systems such as R260/R360 and T160/T360 towers.

DDR4 RDIMM (14/15G)

DDR4 registered ECC DIMMs at up to 3200 MT/s (8GB to 128GB, including LRDIMMs) for older R640/R740 to R650/R750 platforms.

Matched upgrade kits

Evenly distributed matched DIMM sets so all memory channels populate symmetrically.

Typical applications

  • Scaling RAM for virtualization hosts and hypervisors
  • Adding memory for in-memory databases and analytics
  • Upgrading an existing server with a matched DIMM set
  • Meeting minimum RAM for new application deployments

What to specify when ordering

  • Server model / service tag and current DIMM layout
  • Target total capacity and preferred module size
  • Rated speed your CPU/chassis supports
  • Whether you need a matched symmetric upgrade set

Frequently asked questions

What type of memory does my PowerEdge use?

Most current PowerEdge rack servers use DDR5 ECC registered RDIMMs at 4800/5600/6400 MT/s. Entry single-socket systems use ECC UDIMMs. We confirm the exact type from your service tag.

Can I mix different DIMM speeds?

Not for full performance. DIMMs run at the slowest common speed, and some platforms reject certain mixes. We supply matched-speed modules to keep the rated data rate.

What does RDIMM mean versus UDIMM?

A registered DIMM (RDIMM) buffers address/command signals for greater capacity and stability in multi-DIMM servers, while an unbuffered ECC UDIMM is used mainly in entry single-socket systems.

How much memory can my PowerEdge support?

It varies by model and CPU — from modest entry configurations up to multi-terabyte, 24/32-DIMM platforms. Tell us the model and we provide the certified maximum.

Why do DIMMs need to be populated symmetrically?

Multi-channel CPUs deliver full bandwidth when each memory channel is populated evenly. A matched, symmetric kit avoids downclocking and unbalanced channel loading.

Can I add modules to the DIMMs already installed?

Yes if the new modules match type, speed and rank and follow the slot-loading order. Send your current configuration and we design a compatible upgrade.

What is the difference between x4 and x8 organization?

It describes the DRAM data width per chip and affects rank and certain RAS features. We select the organization validated for the capacity and population rule of your server.

Are Dell-certified DIMMs better than generic server memory?

For PowerEdge, qualified modules carry validated SPD firmware and platform support, reducing the risk of POST failures, downclocking or warranty issues that generic RAM can introduce.

Do single-rank and dual-rank DIMMs matter?

They can affect compatibility, channel loading and maximum speed in heavily populated systems. We choose the rank configuration that your model’s population rules support.

Can you pre-install memory into a new server?

Yes. With a server order we install the DIMMs in the correct slots, verify POST at the expected speed and capacity, and ship the build ready to use.

How do I identify the right Dell memory part?

Dell memory uses AD/AC order numbers and SNP manufacturer parts (e.g. SNPG9PYXC/32G). Send either one, or your service tag, and we quote the matching module.

Is ECC memory required in a PowerEdge?

Supported server platforms use ECC memory for error correction and are designed around RDIMM (or ECC UDIMM) modules; standard non-ECC desktop memory is not appropriate.

What warranty covers Dell server memory?

New genuine modules carry the manufacturer warranty. We confirm the term for the part and coordinate replacement support if a defect occurs.

How quickly can a memory upgrade ship?

In-stock matched DIMMs typically ship within a few business days after inspection. Non-stock capacities or speeds depend on availability, which we state in the quote.
