GENUINE DELL OPTICS & CABLES
Dell PowerEdge Optical Transceivers, DAC & Active Optical Cables
Genuine Dell SFP+, SFP28, QSFP28 and QSFP56-DD optics with passive twinax DACs and active optical cables (AOC), matched by speed, wavelength and reach so every link comes up at the validated rate.
Optics and cables must match the port speed and the fibre or rack distance. We supply the genuine Dell transceiver or cable for the link, confirm the form factor and reach against your switch or server, and keep SR, LR and DAC options in stock for top-of-rack and switch-to-switch runs.
Optics and cables we supply

Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right Dell optical transceiver?
Match the transceiver to the port speed and form factor, then choose the optical grade (SR for short fibre, LR for long single-mode) for the distance. Send your switch or server model and we confirm the exact Dell part.
What is the difference between SR and LR optics?
SR (short reach) uses 850nm over multimode fibre for in-building links up to a few hundred metres; LR (long reach) uses 1310nm over single-mode fibre for runs up to 10 km.
What is a passive DAC twinax cable?
A direct-attach copper cable with fixed connectors that uses no power and costs little, ideal for short links between a server and a top-of-rack switch in the same rack.
When should I use an active optical cable (AOC)?
An AOC is used for longer or denser runs where copper twinax is too bulky, too stiff or beyond its reach, while keeping fixed plug-in ends for easy installation.
Do 100GbE ports always need the same transceiver?
No. 100GbE is available in SR4, LR4, CWDM4 and BIDI modules with different fibre types and reaches. The correct module depends on the distance and the fibre already installed.
Can I mix Dell optics with third-party switches?
Genuine Dell optics are validated for Dell PowerSwitch and PowerEdge ports. For third-party hardware, confirm compatibility with that vendor; we can advise on the link before you order.
What does DDM or DOM mean on a transceiver?
Digital diagnostic monitoring lets you read live values such as optical power, temperature and laser bias, useful for verifying and troubleshooting a fibre link.
Are 40GbE and 100GbE modules interchangeable?
No. They use different form factors and signalling (QSFP+ versus QSFP28). Each must match the port, although some ports support lower-speed modules depending on the device.
How far can an SR transceiver reach?
SR optics typically reach up to about 300 m on multimode fibre depending on the speed and OM grade; LR is used for longer distances on single-mode fibre.
Are these new genuine Dell parts?
Yes. We supply new genuine Dell transceivers and cables validated for the relevant ports, not unbranded copies that can fail to link or disable diagnostics.
Do the cables come in different lengths?
Yes. DAC and AOC cables are offered in standard lengths such as 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 metres; choose the shortest length that routes cleanly to keep signal integrity.
Can one transceiver cover both multi- and single-mode fibre?
Generally no; SR is for multimode and LR for single-mode. A BIDI or CWDM4 module may suit a specific installed fibre, which we confirm against the link.
Why is a link not coming up after fitting a transceiver?
Common causes are a speed or form-factor mismatch, dirty or damaged fibre, or exceeding the rated reach. We help verify the correct module and cable for the port.
How are optics and cables shipped?
Transceivers are supplied in protective packaging and cables are coiled to avoid tight bends; they can be shipped individually or consolidated with a switch or server order.
