GENUINE DELL SYSTEM BOARDS

Dell PowerEdge System Boards & Motherboard Replacements

Genuine Dell system boards (motherboards) for PowerEdge rack servers — factory-new replacement boards matched to your chassis, processor generation and iDRAC level, including the CPU/DIMM/riser validation that keeps a repaired server fully supported.

A failed system board is the one fault that takes the whole server down. We supply the genuine Dell board for your exact PowerEdge model rather than an unverified pull, confirm the revision against your service tag, and can install and re-commission it with your processors, memory and iDRAC settings.

System boards we supply

Intel 2U boards

Replacement boards for PowerEdge R740, R750, R760 and R770 dual-socket rack chassis, matched to the CPU generation.

Intel 1U boards

Boards for PowerEdge R640, R650, R660 and R670, including the dual fan-module layout of the 1U chassis.

AMD EPYC boards

System boards for PowerEdge R7525, R7625 and R7725 with AMD SP3/SP5 sockets and chipset validated for EPYC.

MLK boards

Motherboards configured for MLK (motherboard-less / CPU-less) CTO builds so a bare chassis can be completed.

MAX / high-power boards

Board revisions that support high-wattage CPUs (250W and above) and MAX processor configurations where offered.

Re-commissioning

With a repair we seat CPUs/DIMMs, verify riser and iDRAC recognition, and confirm the board revision for your chassis.

Typical applications

  • Replacing a failed board to bring a server back into service
  • Completing a CTO / motherboard-less chassis with the genuine board
  • Upgrading a chassis revision to support higher-wattage CPUs
  • Standardizing a repair fleet with current-revision Dell boards

Frequently asked questions

What is a PowerEdge system board?

The system board is the server’s main motherboard: it carries the CPU sockets, DIMM slots, chipset, riser connectors and the iDRAC management controller. Dell lists it as ‘System Board’ or ‘Motherboard’.

Can I replace a PowerEdge motherboard myself?

A board swap is possible but must use the exact Dell board for your chassis, after which CPUs, memory, risers and iDRAC settings must be re-validated. We can supply the board or perform the full replacement.

How do I find the correct board for my server?

Send your PowerEdge model and service tag. Dell boards are chassis and revision specific; we confirm the exact order code or current revision rather than shipping a lookalike board.

Are Dell order codes and Dell part numbers different?

Yes. Many boards carry a Dell order code (for example 329-BFGQ) and a separate Dell part number/DPN (such as 0xxxxx). We quote the exact code and its current revision.

Will a replacement board keep my iDRAC configuration?

iDRAC firmware and settings are tied to the board. On a replacement we update firmware and can re-apply the network and license configuration so the server is managed as before.

Do system boards differ between Intel and AMD PowerEdge?

Yes. Intel and AMD chassis use different boards, sockets and chipsets (for example SP5 on EPYC versus LGA4677 on Xeon); the board is not interchangeable between them.

What is an MLK motherboard?

MLK denotes a motherboard supplied for a motherboard-less / CPU-less CTO configuration. It lets a bare chassis be completed with the customer’s chosen processors and memory.

Can a board upgrade let me use higher-wattage CPUs?

On some generations a specific board revision is required for CPUs at or above 250W or for MAX processor options. We confirm whether your chassis supports that revision before quoting.

Are the boards new or refurbished?

We primarily supply new genuine Dell boards. If a refurbished board is the only option we state its condition, revision and warranty clearly rather than presenting it as new.

Does a replacement board need new processors or memory?

No. Your existing supported CPUs and DIMMs can move to the matching board; we verify they are on the supported list and seat them correctly during re-commissioning.

How is a replacement board tested?

We fit the board, populate CPUs/DIMMs, update firmware, confirm riser and iDRAC recognition, and run a POST/stress check before the server is returned to service.

What warranty covers a system board?

New genuine boards carry the Dell manufacturer warranty terms. We confirm the specific coverage and coordinate replacement if a confirmed defect occurs.

Do you supply boards for tower or older servers?

We focus on current rack generations (14G-17G). For tower or older models, send the model and service tag and we will confirm availability.

How do I request a specific Dell board code?

Send the Dell order code (such as 329-xxxx) or the Dell part number from the failed board, and we quote that exact board or the current supported revision.
