The R770 is the current dual-socket 2U flagship of Dell’s 17th-generation PowerEdge family. It accepts two Intel Xeon 6 processors — Granite Rapids P-core (6700P/6900P series) for maximum per-thread and licensed-core performance, or the high-density E-core (6700E series) for throughput workloads — on the new Silverthorne platform with 32 DDR5 DIMMs running at up to 6400 MT/s (and 8000 MT/s MRDIMMs).
Compared with the 16th-generation R760, the R770 adds Granite Rapids cores, faster DDR5-6400/MRDIMM memory, the E3.S high-density storage family (up to 40 front + 4 rear), iDRAC10 management and the latest PERC 13 controllers. It is the platform to standardize on for a new, long-support-life VMware/Hyper-V or bare-metal fleet, dense virtualization, in-memory databases, AI-data pipelines and GPU inference.

The platform provides 32 DDR5 RDIMM/MRDIMM slots running at 6400 MT/s, with 16/32/64/128/256 GB modules and an 8 TB ceiling; MRDIMMs at up to 8000 MT/s are available on supported configurations for memory-bandwidth-heavy workloads. Storage: up to 44 NVMe with E3.S density
